Zárate joins Argentina’s basketball calendar
Argentina’s men’s basketball team will play another qualifying window in Buenos Aires Province: the Argentine Basketball Confederation announced that Espacio DAM in Zárate will host the team’s next two home games on the road to the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027.
The confirmed calendar includes two exact dates. Argentina will host Bahamas on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and Canada on Sunday, November 29, 2026. The CAB published the information on October 1, and the same venue and fixtures also appear on FIBA’s official schedule for Window 5 of the Americas Qualifiers.
The timing matters because the announcement gives fans almost two months’ notice for an important stop, while also putting Zárate back in the national basketball conversation. As of publication, there are no verified official details on ticket sales, broadcast plans or the roster for those games.
What is at stake in the second round
Argentina is in Group F of the second round with Bahamas, Canada, Panama, Puerto Rico and Uruguay. Under the format announced by FIBA, this stage is played across three windows: August 2026, November 2026 and February 2027.
The target is the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2027, to be played in Qatar from August 27 to September 12, 2027. The Americas have seven qualifying spots: the top three teams in each second-round group advance, along with the best fourth-placed team.
The November window could be decisive before the final stretch in February. Bahamas and Canada are significant opponents in the continental field, making the Zárate home games both a sporting advantage and a chance for fans outside Buenos Aires City to attend official national-team basketball.
Why this did not come from the Batistuta conversation
The initial scan included several X posts mentioning Gabriel Batistuta, “El Batí” or “El Batigol.” Those replies were treated only as a sign of conversation. They did not provide a verifiable new fact or a primary source explaining a current news development.
Other sports leads were also checked, including CD Eldense information linked to Lionel Messi. That option was not selected because the available institutional communications included nuances and pending conditions that required further confirmation before being treated as the lead story.
Compared with those candidates, Argentina’s confirmed games against Bahamas and Canada stood out as the strongest story: it is recent, backed by primary sources and useful for following the national team’s path toward the 2027 World Cup.
