Argentina Under-17 beat Tanzania at the Vertex Cup

A youth win in London

Argentina’s Under-17 national team beat Tanzania 3-2 at the 2026 Vertex Cup, according to AFA’s official site and a 4 October post from the Tanzania Football Federation.

The match was played at The SkyEx Community Stadium, as part of the Vertex Cup in London. For Argentina, coached by Diego Placente, the trip adds international match minutes ahead of the World Cup in the age group.

The road toward Qatar

AFA described Argentina’s Vertex Cup participation as part of its preparation for the 2026 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Qatar. FIFA states that the tournament will be played from 19 November to 13 December 2026.

That is the relevance of this match: it does not decide a major title, but it gives a youth squad a competitive test before a World Cup event. The Tanzania Football Federation also said its team would continue the tournament against Mexico on 7 October.
