More travellers, shorter stays

The long weekend linked to October 12 brought an estimated 1,490,400 tourists travelling within Argentina, CAME reported on October 12, 2026. The organization calculated a direct economic impact of 313.61 billion pesos.

The clearest reading comes from combining two variables: CAME said the number of travellers rose 3.5% compared with the same 2025 holiday, while the average stay fell from 2 to 1.8 days. In other words, there was more movement, but fewer average nights per trip.

Daily spending, according to CAME

CAME also reported average daily spending of 116,900 pesos per tourist. The organization said that figure represented a 5% real increase compared with 2025, according to its own adjustment for the tourism sector.

The comparison shows why the balance cannot be read only through the number of people who travelled. In the released figures, traveller growth came alongside a shorter stay, two data points that change the interpretation of the long weekend.

Córdoba as the federal example

Argentina’s Tourism, Environment and Sports Secretariat echoed CAME’s figures and highlighted Córdoba. According to the data released by the government office, the province registered 287,463 visitors, more than 50 billion pesos in impact and 4.76% year-on-year growth.

The same report mentioned high occupancy levels in Córdoba destinations including Tulumba, Yacanto de Calamuchita, Villa General Belgrano, Río Ceballos, La Cumbrecita and Villa Carlos Paz. That focus helps place the trend outside Buenos Aires, in tourist cities and towns in the interior.

How to read the balance

The figures should be treated as estimates released by CAME and echoed by the national tourism office, not as a census count of travellers. Even so, they point to a concrete signal from the holiday: more people travelled, but they stayed for less time on average.

For Argentine tourist cities, the data leaves a useful question ahead of upcoming holidays: not only how many visitors arrive, but how long they stay. That duration is central to interpreting any local balance of tourist movement.
