What MendoTran announced

MendoTran published a practical update on October 16, 2026 about fare payment options in Mendoza. The provincial transport system said that, when boarding a bus or the Metrotranvía, passengers can tap a credit or debit card, an NFC-enabled smart device, or use SUBE Digital at the validator.

The update is useful because fare payment no longer relies on a single physical card. According to MendoTran, the enabled validator checks the payment method presented and either authorizes or rejects access to the service. The official post does not list banks, phone models, payment networks or vehicle-by-vehicle exceptions, so those details should be checked through official channels if a rider needs specific compatibility before travelling.

The key point for riders with benefits

The important distinction concerns discounts. MendoTran states that a person may have both a physical SUBE card and SUBE Digital registered, but only one will carry local benefits. National SUBE information also says benefits such as the Federal Social Fare, local attributes or RED SUBE apply through physical or digital SUBE, not automatically through every open payment method.

To use SUBE Digital, MendoTran says users should download or update the SUBE app, create an account, activate the digital card, enable location, enter the passcode, load balance with a debit card and tap the phone with the screen on at the validator. As background, Argentina’s national government had announced SUBE Digital for Mendoza and Rosario in August 2024; the October 16 update is the local communication that brings together the current options for Mendoza trips.
