The Actors Association statement

The Argentine Actors and Actresses Association reported on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 the death of Antonio Grimau, the stage name of Antonio Rebolini, an actor born in Remedios de Escalada, Lanús, Buenos Aires province, on March 10, 1944.

The association remembered him with an overview of a career spanning more than six decades in theatre, television and film. It also stated that he had been affiliated with the Association since 1970.

From Almagro to a widely recognized career

According to the Association’s obituary, Grimau began acting at 16 after answering a call for a theatre cast at the Charles Chaplin theatre in Almagro. That neighborhood beginning led to a career across commercial stages, public venues, mass television and Argentine cinema.

In theatre, the Association lists work in plays such as Los invertidos, Cristales rotos, El acompañamiento, El reñidero, El precio, Yepeto, Rotos de amor and La ternura. Among his recent works was Vamo’ los pibes, staged in 2026 at the Multiteatro with Osvaldo Laport, Raúl Lavié and Osvaldo Santoro, directed by Federico Palazzo.

A familiar face on Argentine television

Television was a central part of his public recognition. The Association lists appearances in titles including Rolando Rivas, taxista; Poliladron; Verdad consecuencia; Padre Coraje; Mujeres asesinas; Vidas robadas; Herencia de amor; Valientes; Solamente vos; and Puerta 7, among others.

The same source notes that he played Roberto Sánchez in the adult stage of Sandro de América, the miniseries directed by Adrián Caetano and aired in 2018. In film, his credits included La Mary, Rolando Rivas, taxista, La obertura, De cara al cielo, Caballos salvajes, La maestra normal and Angélica.

Recognition and stage memory

Also according to the Association, in 2005 he received the Premio Podestá a la Trayectoria Honorable, awarded by the Association together with the Argentine Senate.

That recognition reflects the place Grimau held in a tradition of performers shaped across theatre, television and film, with a sustained presence in Argentina’s audiovisual memory.
