An edition with more venues than ever

Museums Night 2026 will open more than 350 cultural venues in Buenos Aires on Saturday, November 14, from 7 pm until 2 am on Sunday the 15th. The figure tops the 320 institutions that took part last year, according to Infobae. It is a new edition of an event that the city's Ministry of Culture has organized for 22 years.

For seven hours, the city opens its doors to large museums and also to neighborhood institutions that rarely receive the general public the rest of the year. That mix of the well known and the rarely seen is the main draw of the night, according to the outlet. Some collections, in addition, go on view only on that date.

The idea is for visitors to dare to discover places outside the tourist circuit and the mass cultural one. In that logic, a neighborhood museum counts as much as one of the big names, and every venue has its place on the route.

Music, mapping and workshops along every route

This year's program includes live music, DJ sets, serenades and artistic interventions spread across the city. There will also be mapping projections, magic shows and immersive experiences. The full lineup of the more than 350 venues can be checked at festivalesba.org.

There are also staged tours and guided visits, along with workshops and places to create. According to Infobae, the aim is that the outing is not limited to looking at artworks, and that each visitor takes part in some activity inside the venue they choose.

With so many venues and seven hours ahead, look at the lineup early and plan your route by area. That way you avoid crossing the city from end to end more than once during the night.

What the previous edition left behind

The 2025 edition, number 21, took place on Saturday, November 8, and drew 1,200,000 visitors or more, who toured more than 300 venues across the city. The official opening was staged on the terrace of the Centro Cultural Recoleta. There Marta Minujín presented a work conceived for the event, La Torre de Pisa de spaghettis, for which she used 20 thousand packs of noodles that she later handed out to the public.

Last year the Casa de la Cultura was also added, set up near Plaza de Mayo in the building that once housed the newspaper La Prensa. Another 50 venues then became part of the set of participating sites.

At the Sede Altos de Elorriaga there was a mapping projection on the facade, made with images from the city's heritage photo archive. The Museo Sívori showed an exhibition for the 120th anniversary of Antonio Berni's birth, and the Museo Moderno took part in the 4th Humanities and Social Sciences Book Fair with activities of its own.

The national museums and their circuits

At the national museums there were more than 170 thousand visits and 270 activities, organized in four circuits that included the center and Belgrano, among others. In one of those areas, DJ Villa Diamante played at night in the open air.

At the Museo Xul Solar an astrology-themed experience was offered. Every 30 minutes there were night ascents to the Torre Monumental lookout, with a panoramic view of Buenos Aires.

Those figures show the scale of the night: it is not a single museum with lines, but a network of venues in different neighborhoods running at the same time. That is why free transport is a central part of the plan.

If you go

The date is November 14, a Saturday, from 7 pm until 2 am on Sunday the 15th, at more than 350 venues in the City of Buenos Aires. The full program can be checked at festivalesba.org.

To move from one venue to another, buses charge nothing from 6 pm to 3 am if you show the free pass downloaded from the official site. The subway is free from 6 pm until the end of its usual service hours. The eBus runs from 6 pm to 3 am, every 15 minutes, linking the venues.

With the event pass, Ecobici allows up to four free trips, of 45 minutes at most each, in the window from 7 pm to 3 am. It works for new users as well as for those already registered.
